Background
When it comes to performing medical procedures, big or small, there is a risk of providing instruction that may be informal and unstructured, therefore leading to mistakes. For SelfCollect, there were a multitude of different test sites that needed instructional designed inserts to help provide enough detail on how to properly administer the tests and register the product kit.
Challenge
The client requested that the illustrations appear not too clinical, but also not too graphic. With each insert, there were roughly five steps that had an accompanying illustration. It was important that the illustrations be intuitive so that when paired with the instructional text, the lockup would be clear and concise.
Solution
After embarrassingly having many intimate body parts enlarged on my screen so I could accurately illustrate them, I am very happy with the end result. The client was very satisfied with the instructional design provided for all inserts.
